Paris, France

The train arrived a little late this morning at around 9:00 instead of 7 which was okay but then we realized that we forgot to write down directions to the hostel.  This made the morning very interesting.  We bought our metro pass, which is a definite requirement in Paris, and asked the lady who sold it to us how to get to the hostel.  She sent us off in the wrong direction and we ended up regrouping over coffee at around 11:00.  Luckily the coffee shop had internet because the coffee was terrible.  We were able to get directions from the internet, though, and made it to the hostel around noon.  The hostel was very big, we were on the 7th floor and I think it went up to 9, but it was a great place.  After checking in we played around on the internet for a couple hours trying to figure out the remainder of our trip and what exactly we wanted to see in Paris.  Then we caught the metro to the Notre Dame Cathedral and walked around the old city.  The cathedral was huge and we were lucky enough to catch it in the middle of a service.  It was kind of funny though because my watch hadn't been working for weeks because of sand or something and I had an alarm going off at 6:00pm every day.  Well, it went off in the middle of the service at Notre Dame and miraculously all the buttons worked again so that I could turn it off.  Pretty crazy!  After walking around the old city we went out for dinner in the latin quarter.  It was nice but the latin quarter is known for being inexpensive and it didn't really have much of a parisian feel.  Afterward, we walked along the Seine river and through the gardens of the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower.  We were walking through the Louvre gardens around sunset and it was beautiful!  When we arrived to the Eiffel tower we wanted to go to the top but they weren't letting people walk up at that time so we decided to come back another night and watch the sunset from the top.  At this point we were both pretty exhausted and just went back to the hostel to call it a night.

That is cool that you caught a service at Notre Dame. I got to see the Franciscan Monks preform there which was way cool. It has great acoustics. They don't let people walk all the way to the top of the Eifel just to the second level and down from the second level. Kristen wanted to walk all the way up, but no luck. did you see the big Faris Wheel in the Louvre Gardens?
